Zach Young, an undergraduate research associate in the Department of Biology, was awarded a summer undergraduate research fellowship for his work in the lab.
His work, entitled, "The effects of shear stress and substrate stiffness on non-canonical Notch signaling," seeks to define a role for cell mechanics in the activation of Notch receptors. Zach's project has the potential for broad impact in developmental and vascular biology where Notch signaling is thought to play a role in governing morphogenesis.
