Emily was one of four undergraduates in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering to win the BME Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award. Additionally, she was selected to present her work at the departmental seminar. Her research project seeks to develop hydrogels from extracellular matrix generated by human cells. Though the specific goals of her project are to model vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, the project has broad implications for pulmonary arterial hypertension, fibrosis, and many other diseases.
